Center for Community Engaged Learning
Claudia May, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Center for Community Engaged Learning and the Professor and Program Director of Reconciliation Studies, Bethel University, Saint Paul, Minnesota. She is a specialist in the practices and principles of reconciliation; African American, Caribbean, and Ethnic American literature; and Practical Theology.
Dr. May has more than two decades of experience working alongside global practitioners of reconciliation. Throughout her extensive teaching career Dr. May has incorporated community learning models and strategies in the courses she teaches and manages. She has designed courses emphasizing the importance of place-based academic and community-minded partnerships for the student learning experience. As a sought-after practitioner in reconciliation and community-engaged learning, Dr. May delivers lectures, facilitates workshops, and provides consultations on the benefits of community-engaged learning in higher education.
